What CD?

Back in April of 1999 I started thinking about releasing some of my music to the public. The net at that time offered a medium that was practically free and at my disposal. Yet, when I got into the process of recording them, on my fifteen year old tape deck, the old music did not come out. I had intentionally started the project with the idea of using themes and ideas from pieces I have been playing for years. Instead, I went out to record new music and premiere them on the net as they were recorded hoping to make an entire CD worth.

As my ambition grew, so did my music. Starting as a collection of solo recordings, I started collecting new equipment to compliment the guitar work. In the end, I had a four channel mixer, three guitars, and a midi keyboard. When I realized I could not play the keyboard proficiently, I called upon my friends to join me in composing music. Ironically the work that started it all, a sonata for solo acoustic guitar has not make it to the set. Although the scrapped third movement of it turned into trio I. Which sadly is not my best work. Counterpoint is something that takes years to master.

By the summer 1999 I had promised a deadline, which I did not meet. After that summer, I entered college again full time after a long break due to art school and work. Occasionally from that point on I composed at my leisure and pace without the worries of satisfying anybody other than myself. This project has become one of self-gratification and when I have decided when it is done, it is done. Hence it is spring 2001 and I have not released any new music since summer 2000, which incidentally was an out take from my creative explosion of 1999.

The future is something that cannot be halted or measured, and only time is our editor. People asked me about that project I started two years ago and what became of it, but while past may be over- the fruits of labor remain for your enjoyment. I cannot comment on the technical aspects of my playing because that would be unfair. Music is something that should based on it merits and intentions, not it solos or virtuosity. I am a confident player but with age- experience replaces immaturity.
