"Why in the heck did I do this?" - the Boyfriend's
Response
Why in the heck did I put myself through one of my most
ambitious musical endeavors to date? I will answer this
question with three explanations while maintaining a sense
of privacy between my novia and myself.
1.
Inspiration strikes the artist at any given time without
warning or logical reason. Watching that Mariachi group
perform at my friend's Celi's wedding, not to mention
the look of excitement my girlfriend had on her face while
they played, I thought why not try my hand at something
totally foreign and unknown to myself? Artists' can relate
to this explanation for we do as we please, and most of
the time we cannot even explain what drives our own inner
passions for our own distinct individual outputs other
than the fact that we were compelled to do so at that
first moment of inspiration.
2.
Yes, I did it for the sheer vanity of the situation and
for my own insatiable appetite to top any of my previous
creative outpourings for my novia! How many people can
say they had the courage to do what I did for any reason?
Call it an ego trip, but a truly alive person constantly
strives for a diversity in life without hesitation or
apprehension. After spending weeks performing Mariachi
music on my own, I knew I needed backup to create a convincing
realistic demonstration of what I had learned in the past
month, let alone a backdrop to mask my horrible singing!
For a truly creative individual knows not their own unique
limitations, because that person constantly challenges
any obstacles in life and overcomes each success and failure
that life provides as a hurdle with an inquisitive nature
and an unrelenting sense of patience.
3.
I will do anything to get a smile out of the ones that
I care about, and I know my efforts to please others comes
back to me in many different ways in actions seen or unseen.
Sharing a world unknown to me, yet intimately personal
to another, brings an increased awareness and an enhanced
appreciation for that particular area of interest. Without
being too personal, too late for that, you are always
worth the extra mile Bonita, and thank you for opening
my eyes to yet another genre previously unknown to me.
