"Creativity is the ability to change ideas."

01/06/03- 2:30 PM
Finally, five years in the making, my first complete CD of solo guitar works has been released to the general public. Experience "A-Minor" and give this artist feedback and critiques on my latest creative project.

12/20/02- 2:30 PM
Expect a major announcement from the guitar page in the upcoming weeks. Also, during the server move, I had erroneously deleted the original Themes with a crappy outtake of my sonata number one. It has been restored back on the site. Themes is one of the best guitar pieces I have ever made.

12/09/02- 2:30 PM
College Finals always slows down the best of artists, yet I have released TWO guitar works in an effort to keep up with my latest creative output. Check out the guitar WIP page for more details and a summary of these new works.

11/26/02- 1:30 PM
Added a new promised tune to the guitar WIP PAGE. I call this one "THREE."

11/19/02- 3:30 PM
The demos are released into three friendly formats. Also, I have released three new guitar works on the guitar WIP page. I recommend Second Revisited, it has been edited with Sound Forge into stereo with one guitar playing backwards.

11/07/02- 2:30 PM
More demos, actually three new pieces, on the WIP page.

10/24/02- 3:30 PM
Moved the current demos to a new work in progress page for those that are interested in my new creative output. Also, I uploaded four new demos for my second collection of music. Yes, I am working on a set list for the first album so please be patient, just keep in mind that my first album will be tunes that have been on this site since it's inception into the net over four years ago.

10/21/02- 3:30 PM
More NEW music! These rough draft tunes are my third attempt this year for my second collection of music, this time around, I have a new effects board.

10/18/02- 6:30 PM
Re-released the guitar videos in mpeg format for those interested in a cleaner picture and sound. Warning: Only those with cable or DSL should attempt to download these 50 meg plus files for those with dialup will have to leave it downloading at night while asleep. Also updated the video page with stills from the videos themselves.

10/17/02- 1:30 PM
Finally some music software that works, and on that note, I have released another demo, called monster solo, from my pre-Mariachi days, composed around March-June 2002, which is nothing more than a gratuitous guitar solo loaded with effects. This tune is for those that thought I was getting soft with my latest acoustic offerings and ranks up there with the other releases in its own right, email me comments as always to give me some direction and feedback for my next project.

10/10/02- 9:30 AM
More music discovered from the recent web site overhaul. Back in April, I made a promise for new music, which ultimately became the Mariachi project, and now I am discovering these forgotten demos and releasing them for the public. The new updated guitar works:

Nov Suite I-I
Nov Suite I-II
Nov Suite I-III
Lost May Theme

Summary of the above selections:

The November suites were done last November and are enjoyable for their lack of notes and simple chord changes, something I usually never do, for I am known for my note over-kills. Using only an acoustic, without any effects and recorded with only a cheap microphone, not a pickup, I have recorded a very real, personal set.

Lost May theme, is just that, I was hammering out some new ideas that never materialized, yet in places, there are some nice guitar work. It was composed around the same time as my sonata for two guitars.

10/07/02- 3:30 PM
Well, what can I say, I screwed up again with that promised polished piece, but take heart in knowing that I pulled out of the computer several new works which will tide over those interested until I get serious again with my music. For those that have not done so yet, listen to the Mariachi files and laugh at my attempt at learning that genre. New works released from this set are as following:

For Ana (Take One)
For Ana (Take Two)
Damon Vs. El Rey
Guitar Fragments I & II
No More Mariachi
Sonata for Two Guitars (First movement Draft)
Fall Acoustic Set I & II

Summary of the above new selections:

The "For Ana" takes were extremely personal pieces that I created earlier this year around March during one of my infamous creative explosions. For months she cleared it for public release, yet I had wanted it to remain our private song, but time changes things and I thought instead of letting these pieces fade away, I would share with others how being in love compels the artist to new heights.

Damon Vs. El Rey is my own personal backlash against a traditional Mariachi tune.

While working on my Mariachi project, I would take five minutes out here and there and work on my own personal works and the guitar fragments I and II were composed.

No More Mariachi was my first recording after playing Mariachi for a straight month, needless to say, I was quite sick of nylon strings and no sustain.

Sonata for Two Guitars was my second piece for my second album, during that time I was going through some very personal issues and this piece sets the tone of what I was feeling in an effort to let it out.

Fall Acoustic Set I and II were pieces recorded bare bones, that is with only a microphone and no effects. These selections would be incorporated into my suite no. I.

08/20/02- 10:30 PM
I have thrown down the gauntlet once again with my pursuit of becoming a competent guitar player. I have given myself a deadline of one month to create just one complete, whole track in any form I decide upon in an effort to finish what I start. In other news, I have decided to collect those demo tracks of my now postponed second album, where is the first, to those that are interested in what I had in mind. Be sure to check out this page often for I will not disappoint my few fans this time.

08/10/02- 11:30 PM
Instead of recording two covers of popular Mariachi tunes, I performed live with a real Mariachi group! Be sure to check out the pictures and commentary on why I did this last minute change of plans and in return created a memory I will never forget.

08/09/02- 12:30 PM
Expect major announcement this Monday for my "For Ana" project as it will be released to the public for their enjoyment.

07/16/02- 12:30 PM
This demo should be for those interested in my playing ability.

07/16/02- 3:00 PM
Uploaded two early demos of me playing along with the music on my latest project.

07/15/02- 11:20 AM
Progress reports of my latest musical project can be accessed here.

07/14/02- 11:00 AM

As stated on the latest page, my second effort in collecting guitar tracks into a complete album has been delayed so that I can begin a new project inspired by my novia. To make a long story short, I have been inspired to record traditional Hispanic covers of two famous Hispanic artists. In a pursuit to broaden my own musical palette, and my own desire to learn about my heritage, has compelled me to rediscover these artists and others that most certainly deserve any serious guitar players attention. Release date is still August, and I have an overwhelming desire to share to the world my "present" to Ana and my steps towards this new project. Wish me luck.

-DAMON JASSO

06/20/02- 7:00 PM

So much for the weekly updates, but life has thrown me much happiness over the absence of almost four months. As I prepare my second album, which still has a deadline of August, the tracks will appear in a couple of weeks and more so as the completion date nears the end of August. I have already have about four tracks in rough form, so please be patient. Enjoy the new site revision! My entire site will receive a much overdue facelift this week and next.

02/10/02- 10:00 PM

Resuming the weekly updates of new music, after a long hiatus since August. As I compose my second collection of music, tentative release SUMMER 02, updates of these weekly sessions will be available for download. Look for the dates as a guide line for the latest ones on the out takes menu, as I accumulate enough of them, I will release them on a separate page, similar to the guitar videos. My inspiration for such an endeavor is to give the listener a first hand experience of the creative process from start to finish. The admirer gets a chance to listen to these new works form over the months. A process few, if any, get a chance to undertake will today's modern music groups. My first piece, only titled with the date FEB10-2002, is a jam session of a variation of my first suite.

02/05/02- 2:00 PM

I have created a separate page for the videos, complete with commentary and information for those who are interested.

01/30/02- 6:00 PM

The new videos are here! An electric rendition of my newest works are finally online. Unfortunately, these files require real player to listen. Being that, mpeg files are HUGE!

SET LIST

Suite I for solo guitar, fragmentary
Sonata for Guitar in Three Movements
Second, jams, and some commentary

01/29/02- 6:00 PM

Recorded another video for the guitar page. Only if I had the cables to capture the audio, damn it Jose! Just Kidding! This time, its an impromptu of an old tune called "Second" and an another rendition of my Suite number I, electric style. "Patience, is a lost virtue."

01/28/02- 1:00 PM
Recorded, with my friend's Jose's video camera, two live jam sessions of the Sonata no. I and my first Suite. Pending the proper cords from Jose, I will release these two pieces by the end of the week.

WARNING:
"Being that it was a jam or impromptu is a better word for it, expect mistakes, me tuning while playing, etc. Despite the technical difficulties and other errors, it gives the listener a preview of my next album and a progression of my style."

01/13/02- 10:00 PM
After some self-reflection, I realized this once ambitious project will never be completed. Self criticism and increasing doubts always vex the artist, so instead of letting this tunes rot in the digital realm, I will select the tunes CD worthy and compile a set list for those interested in downloading the album. The three years plus in composing online music has been a definite experience, and with the announcement of my resolution, it most certainly will not abate. Actually, I am announcing my next project, drum roll please, a collection of acoustic pieces.

SET LIST

Suite I for solo guitar
Sonata for Guitar in Three Movements
Themes
Boogie
Reflections

Suite Number 1 has already been written and recorded, yet I will re-record it entirely during January. Sonata for Guitar is another story, I have been trying to re-piece that whopper since this page's inception, yet I am confident three years later on the final product. Themes has been on the web site now for two years, it is a testament of my hard work. Boogie goes way back. Unfortunately, I will record it only for acoustic, no drum track from the original. Reflections will my latest, more jazz oriented Hopefully, I can wrap up this project by the Summer and then record a collection of experiential electric, like those made around August. The time to be prolific is now, no more six months before I update. Wish me luck! Stay tuned for a complete breakdown and set list of my first album.

Fixed an annoying error with the script of the fonts.

11/25/01-10:00 PM
The wait is over, new music is here! These recordings were done tonight and two weeks ago. Just me plugged in and "letting it rip!" Unfortunately, it does not exceed anything composed in August. "Scales" is just that, a variation on a simple theme. Chords II is a C, G, F, C, repeat number. Very simple to play, demonstrating my simpler side. "Medley" is an assortment of effects, nothing too imaginative. This should tide people over till December during my college break.

11/05/01-11:00 PM
Customized the blue scroll bar even further. Only if I had time for the new music?

11/04/01-9:30 PM
Added the new gradient to all the pages. Still unsure on what music to upload next. I might just host a slew of new releases, which are all severely undeveloped but noteworthy in their own rights. Lately, I have been leaning towards playing only chord driven pieces. A fresh derivative for a lead player such as myself. We all have to remember that "simplicity is true beauty."

10/28/01-9:22 am
Added a nice blue gradient to the left bar. Unreleased out takes from an August session available shortly. I am in the process of decided what to release next.

10/21/01-7:00 am
A minor cosmetic update to the theme and layout of the guitar page. When I update this site, that usually means new music is following. But expect more of the same, that is, themes and ideas, hence the section entitled"Out takes"

08/16/01-10:00
I had originally anticipated uploading something every Wednesday, yet one oversight prevented that goal. I had recorded about ten minutes of some nice stuff, only to realize that the recorder was not correctly configured. Departing from my experimentation with delay and chorus, this time around I use a variety of effects- chorus, flange, reverb, distortion, and yes, delay. I call this one "Triste." Next week will have more updates because the past two days have lead to a lot of riffs that need editing. The highlight is another oriental, this time will even more furious leads.

08/08/01-3:10
Considering I have some free time from dropping the last summer session of college, I decided to upload something at least once a week until college begins again. This week is a one-minute experiment with a different delay pedal. This time, I use my father's DOD delay combined with my korg board. It is named "Delay."

07/30/01-3:20
Even more new music. This time, it was something recorded today in one take. I call it "Ambient" due to its tone. I used the delay effect on my KORG board and went from there. I have placed it in the out takes because it was just something done as an experiment. Yet, the finale is extremely unusual. Leaning towards my classical music taste.

07/06/01-
Hell, I realized more music was released yesterday than the whole two years this site has been up? As always, sent feedback to me. You suck, why do you torture us, or any other kindly spoken words?

07/05/01-
More Out Takes! Finally, I have gotten around to finding some abandoned tapes and have decided to release them unedited! These abandoned themes range from my attempts last winter/spring of 2000/01. Also, I have decided to re-release "Somber" as is, no retakes.

07/02/01-
Instead of studying for college, an update on the html design was made. A new blue bar on the left, and a white border around the table. A minor update, yet I felt something was missing from the composition in the previous state. This summer might yield some new music after all, being that, I just received a late birthday present. My father gave me a classical guitar, plastic strings and all!

06/22/01-
As stated on the "whatnew" page, "Somber" has been removed until further notice. Indecision and inapt reviews have hindered my judgment in its musical merit. Hence, it has been removed until an extensive rewrite. Unfortunately, being in college all summer, will yield no new music.  Instead, I have decided to release an extensive back catalog of unrealized, undeveloped ideas during my spring 1999 artistic explosion. Keep your eyes posted, maybe something "new" soon. "New" in a sense that it has not been previously released.

03/07/01-
Finally to celebrate my revision of this web site, I have uploaded a new work in progress titled "Somber." It is not much, just a theme you can hum. Next week is spring break, and I plan an extensive rewrite of all my web pages and more new music.

03/01/01-
Went to see my guitar hero, JEFF BECK, at the Aerial Theater in Houston, Texas. To read my review of Jeff Beck's latest CD, "You had it Coming," click here

02/28/01-
After a major hiatus from web design after college resumed from the winter break, my friend Jerry scolded me to finish up my web site. The first of these "new" revisions, as if I have not done it a thousand times, is my guitar page. Hell, it has almost been a year since I have touched the guitar page, but it is back with a vengeance Yet, one question remains: Where is the new music?

06/23/00-
After three days of laboring over a new design for this web page, I am proud to present chicken again. Same old chicken just cooked a different way. Watch all my other pages get facelifts before August. Have not gotten much feedback on "Themes". Is the new out take crap or gold? Email comments, criticism, thoughts? PLEASE! When I get more feedback I will upload something NEW.

06/19/00-
Last year left a lot of tapes filled with ambitions. Since I screwed the pooch on not getting that "lil" CD out, I thought some out takes would be appreciated to demonstrate what I had in mind. Here is one of the recording I made simply called "Themes". An eight minute acoustic piece for solo guitar that takes several very different turns from classical, jazz, and rock. This recording was at the peak of my powers last year. Hopefully this will tide over many of my friends that were asking, " Where in the hell is the new music?" Frankly, the new music isn't ready yet.

06/18/00-
In order to make room for the new out takes I have decided to remove "2ND" and "Trio II". "2ND" has been re recorded yet needs a new ending. "Trio II" just plan sucked. I tried to rush the transposing from guitar to piano and it just did not work.

02/28/00-
The year 1999 was not the year for my first CD of guitar work. I tried to do what most artists attempt- give a deadline. This project is now one of self gratification with no release date whatsoever. I do plan to update this site regularly again as things happen. The month of March will have new music that far exceeds anything currently on the download section.  "Patience is a lost virtue."
