| My
name is Theresa Cisneros, and I am an eighth grader at Madeira Beach
Middle School in Madeira Beach, Florida. I was recently asked to become
an Alumni Student Ambassador and participate once again as a member
of the Florida People to People Student Ambassadors Program on their
planned educational journey to Italy, France and Malta for the summer
of 2005. This 20-day program of exchange consists of meeting with
government officials, interaction with other students my own age,
educational activities, classes in local school and home stays with
host families. I am currently seeking financial sponsors to help me
with my goal, and would greatly appreciate your support. I would also
like to thank the many people that believed in my educational future
and sponsored my first Student Ambassador opportunity to New Zealand
and Australia in the summer of 2003. That was an experience that I
will never forget. I learned a great deal and grew mentally and emotionally
as a young adult. I look forward to learning much more.
I want to also thank those of you who have offered
to help and sponsor my Quinceañera. That had been a dream
for me since I participated in my Tia Hogla’s 15th celebration.
But as I’ve mature and seen how much of a difference one person
can make. I felt that it would be more beneficial for young people
such as myself to explore and reach out to other cultures. The opportunities
that I have as a Student Ambassador were not as accessible to my
parents and I feel privileged to have all the support of my family
and friends. Please take this Learning Adventure as my 15th Celebration!
I will be forever grateful!
For those who have not heard of the Program before,
you may visit their website at www.studentambassadors.org President
Dwight D. Eisenhower founded People to People in 1956. He believed
that if people from different cultures could come together in peace
and friendship, so eventually would countries. Each President there
after Mr. Eisenhower has believed in his dream and served as honorary
chairman. President George W. Bush continued the longstanding presidential
tradition as he serves his second term as honorary chairman of People
to People International.
The tuition for the program is $5,000, which includes
meals, transportation, accommodations and educational activities.
I am asking for any contributions. Your generous
donations will enable me to share in this wonderful educational
experience.
I thank you in advance for your gracious consideration
and support.
Sincerely yours,
Theresa A. Cisneros
