MERRY CHRISTMAS
This
time around, working both gigs, either at Sears
or Dell, not to mention finalizing
that poetry book and recording my music, has been taxing on
this vato and the Christmas cheer has been elevated because
of my situation, not to mention, after working two weeks I finally
get a day off. Gracious thanks, abound, to everyone for the
perpetual support, especially to the novia, I mean fiancee,

Also,
I have released a video

In
other news, the search engine http://www.babieca.com/

Finally,
I have expanded my November

into a three movement piece which will be soon released as an

because my novia's dog, Osito, kept
disrupting the recordings. Also, I will be releasing tonight

Inhibition

Road Observations
Inhibition is an old poem from my book of poems made last year.
It has been revised extensively and will undergo further development.
Side Road Observations is a poem about individuals being detached
from our fellow people. I caught myself doing this while driving
to Edna, Tx. for Thanksgiving this year and was shocked that
I could feel such lack of emotion towards other people's lives.

it was not blatantly obvious by my numerous veiled hints, and
after a resounding “yes” from her father and mother,
Edith and I are getting married, hitched, tying the knot, wed,
joined in union, holy matrimony, etc. Details are sure to enfold,
in the upcoming months, and all I can say at this point is that
the date is set for January 2005 in Edna, Texas. If only I can
convince her to have the Taqueria

For
some time now I have noticed that computer manufacturers are
making machines that are comparative, if not almost more inexpensive,
than building the machine yourself. Well, excuse me for the

am leaving my current employment, for over seven years at Sears,

thing, is that, for over seven years working at the mall, I

Hands
poem was not a hit with my class. My first attempt at minimalism
in literature was an abysmal failure. It will undergo a huge
revision, as with all my other poems, over the upcoming weeks.
In other college related news, I have finalized my schedule
for 2004. On that note, I will be graduating, under the assumption
of not screwing up next year, in December 2004! Also I have
changed my major, hopefully for the last time, from basic english
to creative writing with a minor in Art History. Afterwards,
January 2005 will be another huge event in my life, I will tell
you later what going on, and then I will figure out where to
go from there.
Congratulations
to my good friends, Hector
and Christie, on their one year anniversary with one another.
Also, thanks to my novia Edith for our one year anniversary

not for you love.

I have a new poem, up for revision, and available here.
11/06/03-10:00PM
Doggie Hell was a hit
with my class, not surprisingly, and they felt I have really
found my niche. Speaking of that poem, I have done a revision
of it that cleans up some of the grammatical errors.
I
am
getting closer towards the end of the semester and that means
the less
frequent
updates, other than my usual simple comments about what is going
on in my life and certain reflections of current events and
culture. Also I have recorded a whole tape of guitar videos,
with only tidbits here and there that are personally acceptable
and usable, but I promise to have them completed before January
2004. Look forward to a huge term paper on folklore, more likely
mini papers, within the topic of the roles of Patriarchy, the
overbearing qualities of it, in Mexican and Spanish tales. For
Minorities in literature class, I plan to write the women that
rebel against Patriarchy or succumb to it, in Amy Tan's Joy
Luck Club. Before the end of the semester, I will unveil
a new poetry web page which catalogues my entire output of poetry,
currently online and not. As far as my christmas plans, every
year I do art, I am not sure what I have planned, but I am sure
to do something creative.
I
have
seen sites that list what type of music people play while composing
their journals. To jump on this bandwagon, or to advocate wonderful
music, you decide, I will do this in an effort to spark conversation
and a reflection of my personality.

Ode to our new pet, officially
named Osito, or "little bear" for us non-spanish speakers,
named not in relation to the fore mentioned animal but because
he reminds me of that dog on the spanish show Destinos,
and this new poem continues with my crude humor and uncanny
ability to write intellectually dull, but humorous poetry.
10/28/03-1:11PM
On the second day here
at the "apart-a-mento," the dog has successfully eaten
my shoes, and I have recorded this heinous act for the novia,
and also for all individuals who similarly have had the new
animal blues. Curses upon you "blackie," if that his
your final name, for we have not even named you yet, and pray
that there is not a doggie hell! As for your exoneration, you
ought to consider fetching my the morning paper and staying
away from my guitars.

10/27/03-9:41PM
We have a new addition
to the family brought home by the novia. Let us see if this
7lb black bag of fur urinates on my guitars?

10/26/03-7:41AM
Ever found one of those
embarrassing old pictures of yourself thinking "I hope
no one ever sees this," and instead of putting the photograph
back in the bottom of the box where you found it, you put it
on your web site so your friends can make fun of you?

10/22/03-7:41AM
My latest poem is now
available for download.
I have created a rite of passage poem directed towards adolescent
males with an unusual sense of crass, perversion, and juvenile
humor not yet found in my current literary works. My poetry
class seems to think that I have found my niche! The novia would
probably agree with that statement. Click on the image or here
to download Supermarket
Innuendos. Also, the poem Last
time has undergone an extensive rewrite.

10/18/03-6:41AM
Yes, that is me that was
dancing at a party with a porcelain dog. Things one does while
the novia is out of town! My good friend Melvin, on the left,
as well as everyone else, was laughing at me. Here are some
pictures taken by my friend Lilly from her infamous parties
over the summer. I have a hilarious picture of Edith but she
will kick my tail if I put it on the site.
10/17/03-8:41AM
What is this new announcement?
It goes back to Hector's
wedding and a small superstition...
BUT I CANNOT UNVEIL
THE NEWS UNTIL THANKSGIVING...
In other news,
my brother has given me his personal workout
for those interested in a comprehensive
workout plan in windows excel format. Humorously, his plan
is entitled the "master plan "
which, undoubtedly, is a fine plan for those that do not know
how to begin a workout routine.
I am considering another
100 mile challenge this month. I have been incorporating cardio
training back into my fitness plan for two months now and want
to turn up the intensity up a notch. Wish me luck for I have
not undertaken a challenge like this in over a year and a half.
Uploaded a paper
from my minorities in literature class. This one is entitled
Modernity with Antiquity:
The Union of Bread Givers, a close reading of the famous
novel, which focuses on an understanding and reasoning
on how modernity and antiquity, in this case the old world values
versus the new, and vice versa, cope with one another in the
turn of the twentieth century American society.

Watch for my next poem later this week. Finally, after much
self reflection, I will be unearthing a poem, from that book
of poems I made last year, revised for my poetry class.
Also,
I have a new addition to the family: My father has given me
another electric guitar, this time a celestial white Ibenez.
I own five guitars with this newest addition, I am sure the
novia is getting more jealous of the competition. I love the
new guitar but my focus of study, still, is in only acoustic
playing, but maybe in time will go back to electric guitar works,
whenever I answer my personal questioning/problem of "being
dated" with today's music has been solved.
Not
to mention, I have purchased a camcorder to further my guitar
works, or videos, which will encompass much more of the same
done in May, with the exception
of a more flashy display of virtuosity. Lastly, I will have
an announcement over the next couple of weeks that will sure
to shock my real-life friends and family.

"3 Pieces Live" has been postponed until further notice.
Practicing for only a couple of days, the one on the net, released
on Friday, was very lackluster and sloppy in its execution.
I have recorded the session over the weekend, countless times,
as standalone pieces, each with new intros and improvised solos,
and the new tunes will be released over the upcoming week as
they are re-edited and completed. If only people could view
the recording sessions, for I learned new terms in expletives
with my numerous mistakes after a promising start, time after
time. Thanks for everyone's continued patience over the most
uncreative summers I have had in some time.

While searching the net for my site ranking, it appears I have
been quoted on a page that sells Picasso works. Check it the
site here.
-On April 8, 1973 Pablo Ruiz Picasso died in his
bed. He was buried in his garden at château de Vauvenargues.
Thirteen years later, his last wife Jacqueline joined him in
the garden from a suicide. Buried together, these lovers are
reunited-
It gives me great pleasure to know that people, in fact, use
my online resources of term papers and my Picasso
biography is just one of many available for research
and download.
Though a small achievement, it gives this aspiring art history/english

and where-in-the-hell is the promised art-a-day summer explosion?
Please refer to the above cartoon. While the novia
was away to Mexico
all this time, Casa Jasso was being remodeled, slowly, and I
spent the past two weeks working on the house, doing my landscaping
duties, and also assisting my friend Saul,
from steadfast-webhosting,
develop a site for one of his clients. While waiting for new
music from myself, try other musicians' new music, here are
two Damon picks for the summer:
Steve Hackett's Newest
Studio Album "To
Watch a Storm."
Jeff Beck's "Jeff,"
due July 22nd.
In this artist's opinion, Steve
Hackett's
"To Watch a Storm"
will be one of the last grand old school return to 80's style
progressive Rock. Featuring Hackett's impeccable
band members and musicianship,
keyboardist Roger King almost steals the album with his prodigious
effects and keyboard chops.
As for Jeff Beck, just when you think Beck
has achieved the epitome of guitar wizardry with his past two
works, Mr. Beck has
demonstrated once more that, as this artist
has pointed out,
"a guitar is a formidable adversary when driven by technology,"
and Jeff Beck explores
even more new sonic possibilities with his latest work. Guitar
Players around the world take heed and listen, whether acoustic,
electronic, honky-tonk, or boss a-nova; Beck
has thrown down the gauntlet once more and musicians can only
wait to see what's next.

First those with a sense of humor, especially
for the individuals that happen to know me personally, this
vato will be taking Spanish classes all summer long. Arrogance
with intellect are quite the bedfellows and I happened to fall
into that very mind set when taking my placement test at the
University of Houston after
a year lapse of spanish studies. To my dismay, or many friends
would comment this is not a surprise after all, I failed the
placement test. Being that I will finish one of my degrees next
year, I am an art history and english double major, I thought
I better get off my duff and get into some spanish classes.
What is even more regrettable, or embarrassing, is the fact
that my novia is a bilingual teacher! SWEET
IRONY!
As for the planned art projects this summer, college or not,
they will continue in the upcoming weeks as planned. I am waiting
for my novia Edith to learn our first collaboration song, which
should be a surprise to many people as to the music choice,
even though I admit its a logical step after the Mariachi
music last summer and the chord-based acoustic
videos. Look for that new music piece in early August. While
waiting for her to learn the new music, I have been a melting
pot of new ideas utilizing only my acoustic guitar and more
new music will be released as completed. Only this time around,
the chords-only
idea has been exhausted and the more "flashy" guitar
playing style will resume. As for fine
art, I am still looking for sources on the Totonac Indian
culture for a new painting for my novia, she is a descendant
of the Totonac Indians. After that or before, another Damon
take on the Phoenix
bird, this time around, incorporating the Chinese symbols
that represent this winged
legend. And lastly, as promised on the resolutions
page, more new poems! Being that I will be taking a poetry class
this fall at UH, and someone
has a birthday coming, I figured I had better start experimenting
now, and the results will be uploaded when complete. Here is
a sample of my first attempt in quite a while:

"...It's your birthday, happy birthday,
everyone do the happy dance..."
I
suppose comments and reflections are in order for what it means
to be 25, for the second time, and later this week, when I host
my first live birthday party Saturday night, I will post these
thoughts. Yet, I will dare to reminiscence for a moment and
express a sense of gratitude towards the ones that have made
my life a much better one this year and hopefully this birthday
will be one of the celebration of life and not the remembrance
of our morality.
Direct all happy birthdays wishes:

30 waist, a size 10 for shoes, could always use more guitar
picks and paint brushes, and always looking for money to the

Acquiring
the DV camera late last night, I awoke, after a short night's
rest, configured the computer, new firewire card and all, launched
the program, Adobe Premiere, hit the record button, wait a second,
low battery! DAMN! Watch the site today, this afternoon, after
the battery has charged, for the new guitar videos!
05/08/03-
9:30AM
The
first batch of guitar videos are complete, however, I did not
transfer the DV video in the time allocated with the hardware
from Sindcate.
When I receive back the DV camera, rest assured, the videos
will be finished along with some new works included into the
set. The pieces successfully recorded were For
Ana and a stand-alone condensed performance of my sonata
number I, third movement, for acoustic guitar. Patience
people, I am extremely satisfied with the final results and
look forward to an expeditious solution to my current predicament.
In
other news, I am announcing my first-ever, some would say conceited,
live broadcast of my birthday party Saturday night May 24th.
Being that I have numerous friends around the country that cannot
attend the festivities, I thought I would offer a live web cam
for those that would like to interact with the party, no matter
the location. Technology, against or for, is the future of our
lives and the embracement of the amenities thereof, elevates
our lives to new possibilities and heights.

I
will be recording the new guitar videos this upcoming morning
and afternoon. I am still in the final stages of deciding a
set list. These past two weeks have yielded a lot of new material
and the only two works scheduled for sure are For
Ana and a completely reworked November
from my A-minor cd.
Wish me luck! I have been practicing my tail off.

Maybe
next time I will not wait until the end of the semester to update
my site with new works and the usual html cleanup. The papers
of this semester are now online and ready for download. Be warned:
I have not received a grade on them yet and use at your own
discretion. Personally, I feel the Shakespeare paper
is the best of the bunch while the Empirical
Mishaps is the most interesting. As we increase our technological
ways and strive for answers to all and any problems plaguing
man, our society misses the bigger picture of random chance
and occurrences that cannot be explained with the reluctance
of faith. These topics have been the subject of exploration
in 20th century literature and their impact has been phenomenal
for this vato. Also, Plath's Tulips
is a powerful poem that demands any individual's serious attention
and I thank my professor for introducing me to her work. Look
forward to the guitar videos next week! The artistic block that
has vexed me, since early this year, has abated and I am ready
to conquer the field I love most all summer long! I have now
realized that the past has to give way to the future and these
works will far exceed anything on the site!

An
accurate word defining my own current gym/workout routine and
sudden thin appearance would have to be none other than "Atrophy."
Yet this week I have made an increased effort to go back to
the world I had once loved, and this time around I will not
let vanity and self-absorption consume me as much as it originally
had, for I am no longer in a "quiet desperation" with
my appearance and my relationships. On an artistic note, I promise
I have not forgotten about the guitar videos, believe me, I
would want nothing more than to put that "therapy"
behind me, for an explanation, refer to updates below. In addition,
my term papers from my college classes will soon be available
online. Good news to the fans of Shakespeare, or those that
want a free paper, I have found my King Lear paper, circa 2000,
and it will be uploaded by the end of the week, because I need
to re- type it. The web cams are down until I have time to find
out the problem. On a funny note, something that is deeply personal
and private has occurred in my life, it was devastating to the
ego, in a sense I became instantly aware of my mortality, because
I had found my first gray hair! In response to that, my long
locks are now gone and I will be having my 25th birthday, twice
over this year!

Added another webcam to the website.
Being my statistics have abated in recent days from its absence,
the live webcam, I have felt maybe a double dose will generate
interest, for reasons unknown to myself. As for the guitar videos,
devices and technical issues have hindered progress as well
as my college class responsibilities. Be sure to check back
shortly for at least one video in the upcoming weeks. And thanks
in advance to Sindcate
for allowing me access to his camera.

The
novia is out of town for the weekend so this vato
has a little time on his hands. I finally got
around to correcting that annoying error with
the pull down bars above. The art bar had repeating
items in the list, but now that has been fixed.
Been rehearsing all week long for the new acoustic
videos but I am not sure if I am going to complete
them in time. But I will tell everyone this, the
first one I am finishing is the "FOR ANA"
music and for an explanation read the posts below.
Also, keep in mind I am doing an about face with
these new videos as I will refrain from solos
to demonstrate my chord playing ability and show
to myself and others that I can create decent
guitar chords and rhythms for future works.

I
was about one hour out of church and at work and,
as expected, the no beer jokes were already on
the tongues of my coworkers and friends. Lent,
how the self-imposed denial of something enjoyed
as a means to better ourselves has been started
for the masses that are Catholic. Words of advice
to the many people that do "lent" for
about a week and then back to their old ways,
"Do you do it because you need it or because
you want it?" Do not take this statement
at face value, but consider the vast scope of
its implications. We all fall prey to this decision,
and more often than not let it get the best of
us, but its our own human nature and we are all
prone to error. Also, ask this simple question
of life when being a consumer, dieting, feeling
impatient, or while turning your head at this
hot woman while walking with your girlfriend.
CHOICES...
ASH
WED-NOON
Lent
has begun! Everybody knows I am a "Bad Catholic"
when it comes to faith and religious responsibilities,
anybody that has read my paper on existentialism
in Farewell to arms knows this, but every year
this vato imposes himself under puritan-like restrictions
on life during this sacred 40 days and nights.
This year, for the fifth year in a row, no alcohol
or beer, damn maybe this year it will stick; and
also I will also be giving up coffee, cakes, and
ice-cream. I have acknowledged I have grown quite
a sweet tooth and being a former ephedrine junky
has led to my current fondness to coffee. Wish
me luck on these 40 days for they are going to
truly suck!
People,
please throw me a bone when I mess up with the
html coding on this site! I had erroneously posted
the last three months with "02"
as the year extension! I am sure new visitors
are like "when does this Mexican update this
turkey?"
Random thoughts: Spring break, and
its lack of responsibilities and commitments,
really brings the slacker, not the artist, out
of their shell and not one piece of new art has
emerged this week from my studio. I am turning
off the webcam for two
days while I record the new guitar videos, so
please do not call me at all hours of the night
asking why it is turned off. Just get a life people!
I edited the 02/2703 rant below with more competent
grammar and sentence structures.

You
have to ask yourself about what constitutes as
compelling "content" these days on the
Internet? So far since my creative explosion of
"Art-a-day until News Years," my site
has gradually gone over the 1000 hit mark and
features visitors around the world each and everyday.
Amassing hits and increased traffic was my last
intention indeed for composing art at such a rapid
turnaround, but instead it was a means of therapy
for myself to move on from a failed past relationship
and moving towards a blossoming new one. A kind
of a self help for the artist by erasing painful
memories of the past with new personal expressions,
and a new life. Also, it was my final stab at
the visual arts for quite a while until I have
breaks from my college life.
Unfortunately, as I released subsequent artistic
endeavors from January onwards, such as my first
complete album of solo music, visitors seem to
ignore my newest works, and instead followed extremely
predictable patterns, such as calling me on the
phone to chastise me about my P
R I C E L E S S post, or ask about
why in the hell did I release a cd, or another
case in point, when I announced I had a new novia,
all of a sudden for the first time in over a year,
someone (GHAC) downloaded
a Mariachi music file? News Years had a sudden
interest of visitors following my fitness advice,
oddly enough these very same health journals had
been online for over a year without any interest.
What did generate curiosity, time after time,
was the picture pages and that damn webcam. So,
case in point, "compelling content"
for the Internet these days is the tired cliché
of "people and their lives." Which of
course, was the last intention I had when creating
this site five years ago.
The reason for this post, I finally have acknowledged
what content visitors on my site come to see and
I will cater to the new demand. SIGH! This artist
hangs his head in shame. Looks like I better get
back into camera ready shape. Unfortunately for
fans of the picture page, next week is spring
break and I will be recording my new acoustic
videos and uploading papers I have thus far written
in college. Here is the set list:
FOR ANA LIVE
VARIATIONS ON A TRADITIONAL SPANISH THEME
NOVEMBER EXTENDED (SUITE II)
I know what my personal friends are saying about
the first tune, but hey, you cannot forget fine
music because of the involved personal feelings.
How many people have this certain song(s) that
was "their song" or a musical piece
that reminds them of a past relationship or forgotten
life that causes a flood of memories? Two weeks
ago Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 played, a
fine concerto, yet the memory linked to this fine
piece, which in my case was a relationship, caused
a painful sensation, not one of pleasure as it
was supposed to produce, so not allowing myself
to fall for such a venerability, I immediately
started relearning the chords to that piece and
expanded the theme with a new introduction and
more polished chord changes, still without a solo
or even a note for that matter. Variations on
a traditional Spanish Theme is my reflection and
cultivation of what I had learned musically last
year. Learning Mariachi was not a wasted experience,
even though the effort was not immediately rewarded,
hell, it was a complete disaster, I can say this
now because of how time changes things, and the
reward finally showed up months later as I habitually
continue to play that style from time-to-time
and even learned a thing or two about other forms
of music. Suite II is a radically different variation/expansion
on my November theme from my first album as a
interest grabber for those that want a sample
of my first album.
My goal next week: to show that the acoustic guitar
is a formidable instrument in today's modern,
distorted music scene.
Wish me luck and sent comments to DAMON
JASSO.
And please, someone claim this cat below!!

Your
girlfriend goes out of town for the weekend and
you spend it with your friends getting into trouble:
-8 bucks for
the first round at a new bar.
-10 dollars
for the cover charge at another club.
-Opening a tab
on your credit card and buying a round of drinks
and also one more for a lost friend:
30 smackers.
-Waking up hung over and having your brothers
take you to IHOP: 20
bucks.
-Being so hung over and accidentally pouring coffee
on your pancakes because you thought it was syrup
and having the waitress call you a "DUMBASS!":

Sorry
for the lack of updates, but the first week of
college is always intimidating to this artist,
being that I have changed from Art to English
classes as a means to decide which major has more
potential in the two for this vato, yet I felt
an update was due. Thanks for everyone's sudden
interest in my guitar music with my first complete
CD worth of music entitled "A
Minor." For those of you that ordered
the liner notes and disc, they are almost complete
and should be mailed sometime next week. The delay
was, some of the original liner notes were compressed
at an unacceptable quality and this vato has been
redoing the graphics in my spare time. As far
as new art works, I have been writing a new resolution
and preparing another surprise, but I have not
the time to complete a suitable page for it, but
I will tell those that are interested this- indecision
and procrastination are two traits that my life
could do without, and my resolution will be my
own quest to conquer these two flaws and increase
my own ability to keep progressing as an individual
with a heightened drive and a newfound ambition,
of which was halted suddenly late September, but
has now been resumed with my art a day project
and my ability to finally accept decisions in
life and move on. And on that note, this vato
moves...
-THANKS E-
